This Juneteenth, help us preserve the stories that shaped our city. β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ–€

Today, 100% of admission fees and donations to the Harriet Beecher Stowe House will support our Oral History Project; an ongoing initiative led by our Community Engagement Coordinator, Zinnia Stewart, to document and preserve the lived experiences of Cincinnatians. πŸŽ™οΈβœπŸΎ

Oral histories ensure that history stays alive to inform and empower us. They capture the voices, memories, and perspectives that might otherwise be lost to time. As we celebrate Juneteenth and reflect on the importance of freedom and resilience, we invite you to support this work by visiting the house, making a donation, or helping us spread the word. πŸ“—πŸ’š

πŸŽ₯ Watch the first two episodes of the Oral History Project on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/
πŸ“’ We're looking for more people to participate in future oral history interviews. If you have a story you'd like to share (or know someone who does πŸ‘€), we want to hear from you! Email, DM, or call us to get in touch.

Thank you for helping us preserve Cincinnati history, one story at a time.

We loved celebrating Harriet Beecher Stowe’s birthday with our community. Your presence, enthusiasm, and support made this day so special. πŸŽ‰

As we commemorate America’s 250th anniversary this year, Harriet’s story reminds us that our nation’s history is shaped not only by its founding, but by the people who challenged it to live up to its ideals. Her legacy continues to inspire conversations about courage, justice, and the power of ordinary folks to create extraordinary change. πŸ“šπŸ‘πŸΎ

We are honored to share that the Harriet Beecher Stowe House has received a 2026 Leadership in History Award from American Association for State and Local History! πŸ…πŸ™ŒπŸΎ

This national recognition celebrates our innovative two-era restoration, completed in 2024, which allows visitors to explore the house during both Harriet Beecher Stowe’s time in the 1840s and the Edgemont Inn era of the 1940s. Through these layered stories, the house continues to spark conversation about history, truth, and justice.

Thank you to everyone who has visited, supported, and shared in this work. We are so grateful for our guests, volunteers, staff, and Walnut Hills community. We couldn't do this without you! πŸ™πŸΎπŸ’šπŸ‘
