Celebrate Black Friday with PREORDER DISCOUNT... save an additional $10 when you preorder the Special Edition! ⚡️💸💥

This year has been a bonus challenge and I’m so grateful for all the backers and patrons who have supported Supercade through it.

To say thank you I’m offering an additional $10 discount for preorders of the Deluxe 25th Anniversary Special Edition of the new and revised "Supercade: A Visual History of the Videogame Age 1971-1984" dropping in 2026.

Supercade was the first art book published about the history and culture of interactive entertainment, and this deluxe edition is adding 135+ pages of new content and premium print upgrades to make it super spectacular!

If you haven’t already preordered, please visit shop.supercade.com and enter code THANKS! at checkout, active through midnight on Cyber Monday (12/1).

I’m also planning a new special exhibition for after the book ships that I’ll hopefully be announcing in the coming months, extremely excited too share details about that with all of you. It’s gonna be incredible.

So grateful for your support!

xoxo van

UPDATE! An additional TEN copies of the Collector's Edition are now available... I had set aside the extra slipcases for shipping damage, but all rewards have now arrived safely so I'm releasing the last of the edition. Please note, these are house copies or "hors commerce" (HC) and will NOT be numbered.

This signed limited edition of 500 includes softcover copies of v.1 & v.2 of Supercade: A Visual History of the Videogame Age (1971-2001) in custom slipcase featuring signature "rug test" interior and UV gloss. Originally created as a stretch goal for the first Kickstarter campaign, it is now being offered here in very limited quantities owing to drama with fulfillment overseas. The Collector's Edition will ship in Supercade's "tomo" tote bag with postcard set, stickers, bookmark, and sundry swag.

Get while the getting is good!

Devastated by the sudden news that Itagaki-san passed away this morning… as a game designer, he always fought for his vision. First leading Team Ninja and later Valhalla, he led development of the Dead or Alive franchise, revival of Ninja Gaiden, and last Devil’s Third. I’m so grateful that I had the opportunity to meet him in person, first in Tokyo for the launch of the Xbox there and many times in the US. I don’t think I ever saw him once without his signature sunglasses. This photo was taken when he came to visit the original Supercade office in LA. He was obsessed with Exidy’s Death Race… of course he gravitated to the most controversial game in the arcade. Sincere condolences to all of his friends and family. Thank you for my love, Christie. RIP. 🖤

Supercade was honored to host the team from Valhalla Game Studios Co., Ltd. today... domo arigatou gozaimasu!
