“I aspire to create pieces that defy movement, such as bending fired clay and shaping it into new forms, wanting to twist, pull and see what else can do when we push it past it’s limits. Through the assembly of chain-link clay pieces, the work retains the possibility of mobility when pulled or lifted.” says Hannah Slagell.
Her material-defying work, Intertwine was awarded the ODC Award for Excellence. It is on view, along with work by 68 other artists, now through July 3rd, in the “Best of 2026” juried member’s exhibition.

April Felipe’s work explores identity, memory and belonging, drawing from her experience as an American of Dominican and Puerto Rican descent. She creates layered sculptures using ceramics and fiber to examine how personal and cultural histories shape who we are and how we present ourselves.

Her work, She Held Her Breath, was created from a combination of porcelain, underglazes, cotton fiber, pastels, wood, gold fringe and punch embroidery. See this stunning work in-person, along with work by 68 other artists, now through July 3rd, in the “Best of 2026” juried member’s exhibition.

Mike Kozumplik grew up in the rural setting of northwest Ohio and developed a love for nature, which carries through into his jewelry. With his current series of landscape neckpieces, he aims to stir the viewer’s memories and emotions of places visited and relationships associated with those places. The pieces are created using lost wax casting and various fabricating techniques.

His work, The Back Forty, was created from sterling silver and Cotham marble. See this breathtaking necklace in-person, along with work by 68 other artists, now through July 3rd, in the “Best of 2026” juried member’s exhibition. https://ohiocraft.org/best-of-2026/

Janette Knowles is an art professor and textile artist who strives to create work as climate neutral (and climate beneficial) as possible. Her textiles are either hand-woven or upcycled and dyed using historical dye plants she cultivates in her garden. She dyes, weaves and stitches pieces that are meditations on the climate crisis and its collateral impact on the land as well as the world’s most vulnerable populations.

Her work, Dreams in the Seed Vault was created from vintage silk and linen, dyed with persimmon and black walnut and then hand embroidered.

See this beautiful piece in-person, along with work by 68 other artists, now through July 3rd, in the “Best of 2026” juried member’s exhibition. https://ohiocraft.org/best-of-2026/
