Huntsville native, Huntsville Revisited member, and someone I am privileged to call friend is Danny Vinson.
Danny stopped by the Huntsville Revisited Museum recently to visit with me and to gift the museum with an autographed poster for my collection.

Danny Vinson's career has been marked by a diverse range of roles that showcase his versatility as an actor. Here are some of his notable career highlights:

• Leatherheads (2008): Vinson played the Duluth Reporter, contributing to the film's depiction of early professional football.

• The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008): He portrayed the Priest Giving Last Rites, adding a poignant touch to David Fincher's fantastical drama.

• 42 (2013): Vinson played Eddie Dyer, a team figure in the story of Jackie Robinson's breaking of the color barrier in baseball.

• American Underdog (2021): He appeared as Larry, adding depth to the film's narrative.

• The Walking Dead (2013): Vinson had a guest spot as David Chambler in the episode "Live Bait."

• Nashville (2013, 2016): He appeared in the series, showcasing his ability to blend into various genres.

• Preacher (2018): Vinson's role in this series further demonstrated his range as an actor.

Danny Vinson's work has been recognized for its authenticity and contribution to the ensemble casts in both comedies and dramas. His performances often draw on his Alabama roots to infuse roles with regional flavor, making him a beloved figure in the industry.

The GFWC Legacy (General Federation of Women’s Clubs) stopped by Huntsville Revisited to share in the Front Porch Experience. The Clubwomen work to improve our community through volunteer service with the primary goal of carrying out charitable service programs, providing leadership opportunities and enriching the lives of members through personal growth. They plan field trips in our community to learn more about Huntsville and ways they can help our growing city.

I am truly grateful to be recognized by this group of historians and archivists. I share history because it is my passion, and to have these experts in the field acknowledge my work is an honor. I am privileged to be able to share with you because of the generosity of the Huntsville Revisited family and Mr. Jim Batson and the H. C. Blake company.

The Society of Alabama Archivists Marvin Yeomans Whiting Distinguished Archivist Award, has selected me as the 2025 recipient of the award.

Created in 2012, the Whiting Award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to the archival profession and the preservation of Alabama history over the lifetime of their career. Your work with Huntsville Revisited has been outstanding, and we are honored to have the opportunity to recognize you in this way.

The award will be presented at the Society of Alabama Archivists annual meeting at UAH on October 17, 2025.
