Now On View

New Perspectives reflects an ongoing evolution at GW Contemporary - bringing together artists whose practices engage with materiality, abstraction, perception, and process through a range of distinct approaches.

The exhibition embraces the spirit of renewal that accompanies Spring - not simply as a season, but as a moment of momentum, transformation, and unfolding possibility.

Now on view at GW Contemporary, Laguna Beach.

Artist Spotlight | Amy Wright

GW Contemporary is delighted to present a new body of work by Australian artist Amy Wright - marking the beginning of our collaboration with the artist and an exciting continuation of the dialogue between Australian and Californian practices within the gallery’s program.

Working from her garden studio in regional Victoria, Wright creates richly layered paintings that draw from both observation and memory, exploring landscapes that feel untamed, shifting and deeply sensory.

Rooted in an attentiveness to the overlooked - overgrown paths, coastal flora, tangled gardens, fragments of place - her works sit beautifully between abstraction and landscape, where texture, gesture and atmosphere become a way of mapping experience itself.

New in the gallery —

Working between painting and sculpture, Dutch artist Jan Maarten Voskuil creates layered relief compositions that shift with light, shadow, and perspective. His “Hybrid” series is created without a fixed orientation, allowing each work to be installed in multiple ways - subtly changing the composition and viewing experience each time.

We’re thrilled to introduce the work of Australian artist Amy Wright as part of New Perspectives, a group exhibition now on view at GW Contemporary.

Through layered compositions, intuitive mark-making, and richly textured surfaces, Wright creates paintings that feel immersive, expressive, and deeply alive - balancing gesture, atmosphere, and materiality in ways that continue to unfold over time.

Amy’s inclusion in the exhibition reflects an ongoing dialogue within the gallery’s program between contemporary Australian and Californian practices, bringing together artists connected through abstraction, light, landscape, and process.

We’re pleased to introduce UK-based artist Charlie Oscar Patterson to the gallery program and our Spring Collection.

We were immediately drawn to the mood and form within his work, organic in dimension, layered with rich color, and full of depth. Patterson merges sculpture and painting, creating pieces that feel both physical and atmospheric in a space. His practice invites a different way of seeing, where light is experienced almost like sound. Much like an instrument is carefully made to produce a distinct tone, his works are composed to receive and play light, revealing shifts in color and atmosphere over time.
