From Dr. David Yee, board member, California State Railroad Museum Foundation:

Marking the 250th anniversary of America’s founding, California State Railroad Museum Foundation Board Member Dr. David Yee delivered remarks as the guest speaker for the May 10 Commemoration at Golden Spike National Historical Park in Promontory Summit, Utah.

At the request of the National Park Service of the United States Department of the Interior, he reflected on the legacy of the transcontinental railroad, including its profound impact on western development and the enduring contributions of Chinese railroad workers and their descendants. The commemoration honored the workers and the vision that united the nation and changed the world.

📅 FRIDAYS: 11:15 am; 1 pm; 2:15 pm

📅 SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS: 10 am; 11:15 am; 1 pm; 2:15 pm; 3:30 pm.

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day, California State Parks is offering FREE ADMISSION to veterans and active-duty members of the U.S. armed forces, including reservists and National Guard members. This includes the California State Railroad Museum and Railtown 1897 State Historic Park.

🫡 Thank you, one and all, for your service.

🪪 Veterans, active duty and reserve military personnel must show a valid military ID, or proof of discharge other than dishonorable or bad conduct, in order to receive free admission. Valid only on Memorial Day (Monday, May 25, 2026).

Today is Memorial Day, a day we honor and remember the people who have died serving in the U.S. military. During wartime, railroads experienced an unheard-of rate of traffic, so we would also like to honor those that served the war effort on the homefront.
