Message from Co-Founder W***y Rodriguez:

This past weekend was nothing short of historic at the Grammys.

Records were broken, barriers were shattered, and Latin music stood proudly on the global stage. But long before today’s milestones, before the current generation of stars, there was an icon who paved the way Eddie Palmieri.
Eddie Palmieri was the very first Latino artist to ever win a Grammy Award, changing the course of music history forever. On Saturday, January 31, 2026, the Recording Academy honored that legacy by presenting him with a Trustee Award, one of the Academy’s highest distinctions.

I am deeply grateful that the International Salsa Museum played a role in helping ensure this long-overdue recognition became a reality. My sincere thanks to the Recording Academy for honoring Mr. Palmieri and his estate with the respect they deserve.

This moment moved me deeply. Eddie Palmieri didn’t just inspire me as a musician he redefined the sound of Latin music and inspired generations around the world.

Thank you,
Your legacy lives forever.

Message by Co-Founder W***y Rodriguez:

I am honored to share with our community that, as a Governing Board and Voting Member of the Recording Academy, I am grateful to have played a role in honoring two extraordinary musical legacies. This year, we celebrate the incomparable Eddie Palmieri and also recognize the global impact of Carlos Santana, whose interpretation of Tito Puente’s “Oye Como Va” helped transform the composition into a worldwide phenomenon. It is a true privilege to see Mr. Santana receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Grammy Awards.

My sincere thanks to my colleagues at the Recording Academy for their support, and a special thank you to my good friend Mr. Michael Carabello ( Founding member os Santana) for introducing the song to Mr. Santana.

Finally, none of this would have been possible without Tito Puente’s original composition. Deep gratitude to the Puente Family for their continued support and stewardship of his enduring legacy.

Happy Birthday The Queen of Latin Soul La Lupe:

Today we celebrate the birth of La Lupe, a singular force in the history of Latin music. La Lupe did not simply sing. She poured her soul into every note, turning the stage into a sacred space and emotion into unfiltered truth. Her voice, her intensity, and her presence shattered expectations in a time that was not always ready for a woman so fearless, so expressive, and so unapologetically herself.

Throughout her life, many stones were thrown her way. There were moments of criticism, misunderstanding, and deep loss. Yet through it all, she never lost her faith. In the midst of pain and transformation, La Lupe found strength in spirituality and devoted her life to God, showing the world that true triumph can also be found in humility, reflection, and redemption.

Her legacy is not only preserved in timeless recordings, but in her courage to live authentically, her willingness to feel deeply, and her ability to rise even when the world tried to silence her. La Lupe was truly one of a kind, impossible to replicate and impossible to forget.

Today, on her birthday, the International Salsa Museum honors La Lupe, her legacy, her faith, her resilience, and her eternal spirit. Thank you, La Lupe, for reminding us that even through adversity, the soul can still sing with truth.

Her legacy continues through her Daughter . We love you dearly Yoli and please know que somos familia. Estamos aqui para ti. -ISM Family

Gracias, Maestro Rafael Ithier.
