We're not just a wonderful museum and heritage site. We also put on events in our Tudor Hall - a really atmospheric place to watch a theatre production, a concert or a history talk. Here are just a few of the events we have coming up, with more added throughout the year:

- 10th June @ 6:30pm, a talk on the history of Matlock Bath using a private archive of pictures and texts to tell a biography of the famous spa town.

- 20th June @ 6:30pm, an expert on doll's houses (Jane Harrop) will look at the past and future of the hobby.

- 4th July @ 6:30pm, Ayres and Graces present a concert of Shakespeare's music to bring to life one of England's golden ages of music and theatre.

Tickets can be booked at https://bohm.yapsody.com/ or in advance at our welcome desk whenever we are open. We only have space for 40 people in our Tudor Hall so book early to avoid disappointment.

We've made a new poster for our event on Wednesday 10th June. Taking inspiration from one of the original posters advertising the museum in the 1950s, we think it adds a touch of history (and style!) to the event. What do you think?

'Matlock Bath Voices' is the story of a remote rural hamlet which grew to become a nationally famous spa, before finding the place it holds today as a popular East Midlands' day-out destination.
Told with the words of visitors and residents of Matlock Bath over the centuries, with the aid of imagery from a unique private archive, the volunteers from Derwent Valley Museums will bring life to this biography of a much loved and visited Derbyshire village.

Bakewell Old House Museum is proud to be hosting the play 'I Think He Died of a Tuesday' by Sean Corey and Nefyn Edwards on Saturday 9th May. The play will take place in the Tudor Hall of the museum which will make the evening extra special and atmospheric.

Synopsis
Following the death of Michael, his son (Mark) and grandson (Sam) navigate life without him. As events spiral out of control, the effect on Mark ( and his mental health) leads to niggles from the past resurfacing leaving Mark and Sam’s relationship in tatters.

I Think He Died Of A Tuesday is a poignant play about bereavement and the relationship between fathers and sons (with parallels for mothers and daughters). Although the subject matter involves death, the play is packed full of humour from the start.
