The Bakewell and District Historical Society are looking to recruit trustees to our board to help provide strategic leadership for the society and Bakewell Old House Museum. Trustee applications are welcome from anyone who has a passion for small museums and feels that they can help deliver our vision and plan for our future sustainability.

The incredible Jane Harrop will be at Bakewell Old House Museum on Saturday 20th June to talk about the history of doll's houses. Jane is one of the country's leading experts on doll's houses so it will be a privilege to hear her talk. Tickets are only £5 and all proceeds will go to upkeep of the Bakewell Old House Museum and so we can continue putting on exceptional temporary exhibitions like this years 'Home Sweet Home: the doll's house'.

Doors are 18:30 and tea, coffee, hot chocolate (etc.) will be served.

Thanks to the hard work of our sewing circle volunteers, we have a new mannequin for the museum. Dorcas, lady of the house, is fully clothed in period-accurate dress.

Only a week to go until we welcome a group of volunteers of Derwent Valley Mills for their riveting tale 'Matlock Bath Voices'. Come and witness the story of how Matlock Bath grew from a remote rural hamlet to a nationally famous spa. They use a unique private archive to paint a vivid picture of Matlock Bath through the ages.
