Kirkcudbright Galleries Celebrating the "Kirkcudbright Artists' Colony" & showcasing the best of touring national exhibitions
Facility run by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Kirkcudbright Galleries is located in a B listed 19th century landmark building in St Mary Street in the heart of Kirkcudbright’s historic town centre and within the wonderful landscape of Dumfries and Galloway. The gallery will display an extensive collection of works by Kirkcudbright Artists’. This collection is of recognised national significance, and will be on view for the first time in the new permanent collection gallery space on the ground floor. This will include; paintings and drawings, as well as book illustrations, ceramics and silver jewellery, will be on display by artists including John Faed, E A Hornel, Jessie M King, S J Peploe and Robert Sivell. The galleries will also include a temporary exhibition gallery on the first floor, an object gallery on the 2nd floor and an AV room. There will also be an activity space on a mezzanine floor, a cafe overlooking the towns' beautiful soaperie gardens and a gift shop.

‘Colour: The Palette of S.J. Peploe’

After 4 months and an amazing summer, it’s the final weekend to see this incredible show on the Scottish Colourist S.J. Peploe. Open today (Saturday) from 10am - 5pm, and tomorrow (Sunday 4th October) from 11:30-5pm. Last entry at 4:45pm.

Here’s a sneaky peak of what we will be making on Sunday the 4th October at Kirkcudbright Galleries for those of you who have managed to book a space. Come and visit artist Stewart Morrison in the Mezzanine today!

During the Peploe exhibition, Stewart Morrison has been coming into the gallery space daily. Finding inspiration from our still life cabinet, and from the beautiful Peploe paintings which he has been sketching in the gallery and then taking away to complete his inspired copies. 

This demo is a chance for you to meet the artist, see his work, and to chat to him about his process and how he’s emulated the style of Peploe. 

Stewart will be in the Mezzanine, (Level 2 on lift or up the grey fire stairs) 
He will be there today - Sunday 27th September - from 12pm on!

Free entry, drop in. Come and escape the rain and chat with Stewart and enjoy his work! 🎨☔️
