Framework Knitters Museum Award-winning museum in Ruddington, Nottinghamshire. The museum features two preserved workshops, a row of workers cottages and gardens.

Open Wednesday to Saturday: 11:00am – 4:00pm
(Last admission: 3:30pm)
Cafe/ Parkers Yard- Tuesday to Saturday: 09:00am – 4:00pm Watch a framework knitter in action in the frameshop. Have a go on a Griswold sock machine and make your own scarf. Explore the historic cottages and see how the manager and knitters lived and worked at the end of the 19th century. Visit the chapel and our historic hosiery collection. Follow our Parkers yard page for our enclosed cafe garden opening hours, shop and exhibition space.

Thank you to everyone who dropped into our Creepy Pom Pom Monsters workshop today. We were overwhelmed by your support and loved seeing all your amazing creations.

Following on from feedback, we are going to make our Mini Broomstick Making workshop next Wednesday a ticketed event. This will avoid any waiting or disappointment.

There will be two sessions, 10am and 11am with 15 spaces at both. Please book via Digitickets, the link is available via our website www.fwk.org/uk

Our next workshop on Saturday, Glow in the dark Knitted Ghosties will remain a drop in workshop but please be patient during busy periods.

🎃🕷️🦇JOIN US FOR SPOOKY CRAFTS IN THE CHAPEL GALLERY TOMORROW! 🕸️👽🐈‍⬛

Tomorrow, from 10:00-12:00, children can join us at our Creepy Pom-Pom Monsters Craft Workshop (Drop-In). Will you make a googly spider, a fluffy bat, a grinning pumpkin, a little ghost or a cute monster ready to take home?

There's colourful yarn, googly eyes and plenty of Halloween decorations, so lots of room for imagination. We can't wait to see what our young crafters come up with!

No booking needed, just drop in! Children must be accompanied by an adult.

What's On this month 🎃

Make a creepy pom-pom monster, give a knitted ghost its googly eyes or decorate a mini broomstick with ribbons and dried flowers. There’s a glass fusion workshop and a free valuation afternoon with Hansons Auctioneers, too.

A brilliant day at the NTU Volunteers Fair! 🧶

Today we headed to Nottingham Trent University for their Volunteers Fair, where we chatted to lots of lovely students about the Framework Knitters Museum and all the ways they can get involved as volunteers.

But our day didn't stop at the fair! We were happily nabbed by two of NTU's knitwear department technical staff, who whisked us away for a quick tour of some of the university's knitting workshops. And who should we find hard at work on a Dubied machine? Gina, one of our newest museum team members! 🧶

We also met some fabulous illustration students, who kindly sketched us while we worked. We loved seeing their different styles and interpretations, and we're rather hoping some of those sketches make their way back to the museum!

And to top it all off, Olivia learnt to cast on! ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped to chat with us. We came away even more excited about the connections between the museum, the university and the next generation of makers, designers and creatives.

Who knows, we may have met some of our future volunteers today! 👀

Crikey it’s the first Saturday of a new month tomorrow and that means it’s Ruddington Market Day and our Summerhouse Knitting and Creative Group.

Drop in from 10am and gift yourself so time to craft and chat with friends.

We’ve also got some beautiful new stock for the shop. Could this tempt you to start your seasonal shopping??

Stunning foiled notebooks, handmade jewellery, jigsaws, purses. Pop in and be inspired.

If that’s isn’t temptation enough Mary has restocked her knitted hand-warmers, socks and gloves.

Our next Framework Music Night is fast approaching with "A different Thread".

Alicia Best from the US and Robert Jackson from the UK met while busking on the cobbled streets of Ireland and discovered both a musical and personal harmony that was serendipitous.

In the decade since forming A Different Thread, Best and Jackson have taken their act on the road, touring over a dozen countries, and winning numerous awards.

Their sound is transcontinental, blending Jackson’s British folk rock background with Best’s North Carolina-bred alt-country melodies.

Join us on Saturday 10 October at 7pm.

Tickets are £8.50 and available to book online via our website www.fwk.org.uk

As we welcome Autumn, its time to change our opening hours.

This Sunday, 27 September will be your last chance to visit us on a Sunday.

Both the museum and parkers yard cafe and shop will be closed on a Sunday for the rest of 2026.

For October the museum we will be open:
Wednesday to Saturday 11am until 4pm (with last entry at 3:30).
Cafe opening hours Tuesday to Saturday 9am until 4pm.

In November the museum will be closing during the week to focus on events and group visits, opening to the public on Saturdays only.

If you want to drop in mid-week, please do visit before November.
Cafe and shop will remain open as normal.

What has cricket got to do with Framework Knitting?

Well our pop up exhibition will enlighten you!

As part of Heritage Open Days 2026, FWK have partnered with trentbridge, the home of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, to create a display exploring the unique relationship between sport and knitting.

Available to view until 10 October in our Chapel Gallery.

Please do call ahead to check availability if travelling specifically to see the exhibition as the Chapel is a shared space and maybe booked. We’d hate to disappoint.

To celebrate Worldwide Spin in Public Day 2026 we are thrilled to be hosting Ashfield Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers in our chapel gallery tomorrow, Saturday 19 September from 10am.

There will be spinning wheels, fibre, maybe drop spindles, and lots of colour and enthusiasm for hand spun fibre crafts.

Drop in, have a chat and be inspired.
