The Brickworks Museum

The Brickworks Museum A family-friendly Museum in Hampshire with a thriving programme of events. Open March-October. You can even have a go at making your own brick.

Come and be amazed at the authentic sights, sounds and smells of the last stream-driven Victorian brickworks in the UK. Follow in the footsteps of the brickmakers to see how bricks were once made here by the million and experience what a Victorian factory with its huge machinery was like. There really is something for everyone, lots of hands-on activities for children of all ages. Plenty of space

inside if the weather is poor and we welcome well behaved dogs on leads. Once a month all the machinery is steamed up and the place hums with life again. We have four stationary engines, a railway on site, resident traction engines who help us put on a really good day out โ€“ no chance of getting bored! An inexpensive family visit, with lots of brick related activities and family trails. Enjoy free parking, snacks, drinks and gift shop.

๐Ÿ“ฃ Raku at The Brickworks Museum This Sunday!

Join me at Brickworks Museum in Bursledon, where I'll be demonstrating the fascinating art of raku firing alongside fellow members of the Southern Ceramic Group.

Throughout the day, we'll be showcasing raku and other alternative firing techniques, revealing the magic and unpredictability that make these ceramic processes so exciting. Set within the historic surroundings of the museum, it's the perfect place to experience the transformation of clay into unique works of art.

The demonstrations are included with museum admission, so come along and discover one of the most dramatic and rewarding techniques in ceramics.

There will also be an opportunity to browse and purchase beautiful handmade ceramics from some of the participating potters.

We'd love to see you there!

๐Ÿ™WE NEED YOUR HELP ๐Ÿ™

Here at The Brickworks Museum, we have received a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant for its new Connecting Communities project.

The museum currently hosts popular family activities and large events that are often themed around the siteโ€™s industrial story of brickmaking. We are now exploring exciting initiatives to creatively use the museumโ€™s story, collections and indoor and outdoor spaces to reach new audiences.

We plan to better connect with our local communities and partner organisations to develop a new offer that meets the needs of our growing neighbouring communities and attracts new visitors. Over the year we plan to trial activities, events and displays that we hope will appeal to people of all ages, backgrounds and interests.

You can help us by completing this short survey to give us feedback on our proposed plans.

The survey should take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete, is completely anonymous and confidential. The answers you give will be used only for our own research purposes. And as a thank you you can opt to enter our FREE PRIZE DRAW to win a free ticket to the museum.

For more information about the museum's current activities and events, visit The Brickworks Museum website.
