We’ve been meaning to post our Disney collaboration for a while!! 😱

This final piece is spectacular. From hot sculpting through to the cold work cutting, so many people have had a hand in creating it.

It was a collaboration between glass sculptor Elliot Walker and three skilled cutters - Nicholas Gritton, Alan Crannage & Samuel Gritton - working on the piece. One of the cutters even came out of retirement specifically to cut the eight-pointed star at the centre! 🤩

You can see the star in the final shot, and I’ve also put a photo of it in my story. I’ll be posting the finished stills tomorrow!

The stunning videography was done by .creative AKA , who worked with us for three days to capture each part of the process.

What a fantastic result! ✨

Together, we’ve generated an incredible £3,001.50 through our recent auction and donations!

We’re so proud of what we’ve achieved and, more importantly, what this means for the future of glass.

Here’s where it all goes:

❤️ £1,665.50 raised towards the GLAS glass bursary, supporting UK artists.

❤️ £1,336 going directly to the makers through the sale of their work.

And we’re not stopping there. At Blowfish Glass UK, we’re matching the bursary fundraising to create an additional bursary, helping support even more artists and create new opportunities within our community.

From pieces put forward by artists from their own studios to work created during our live demonstrations, this auction brought together an incredible collection of talent.

A huge thank you to all the artists, bidders, donors and everyone who shared and supported the auction. Your enthusiasm and generosity have made this possible.

We’re incredibly proud to be able to give something back and help support the next generation of glass artists.

THE FINAL WEEKEND | GLAS AUCTION 🔥

Our auction in support of Glass Legacy Association Stourbridge (GLAS) is entering its final weekend, with bidding closing tomorrow.

Featuring unique works created during the live demonstrations on the opening day of Fifteen x Fifteen, alongside pieces generously contributed by participating artists.

For collectors, it’s a wonderful opportunity to discover and acquire distinctive contemporary glass, with a direct connection to the artists and the making process.

50% of every sale goes directly to the artist, with the remaining 50% helping to fund the GLAS bursary for UK glass artists, creating opportunities for experimentation, development and access to professional hotshop facilities.

A few pieces have already found new homes, and there’s still time to explore the collection.

Drawing Glass: A 5-Week Creative Course at Blowfish Glass

Fancy trying something a little different? Join us for a five-week drawing course exploring the beauty and complexity of glass, from its reflections and transparency to its colour, texture and sculptural forms.

Led by local artist Sarah Goudie, the course will take place at Blowfish Glass, surrounded by our international exhibition of 60 contemporary glass artworks, in the beautiful historic setting of the Red House Glass Cone.

Each week we’ll explore a different theme, using pencil, charcoal, chalk and a variety of wet and dry materials to experiment with drawing 3D objects and discovering new techniques.

Our five weekly themes:

* Form & Shadows
* Colour & Reflections
* Refractions & Transparency
* Texture & Pattern
* Micro to Macro

Whether you already love drawing or simply fancy trying something new, this is a lovely opportunity to slow down, get creative, learn new skills and enjoy an inspiring gallery setting. No previous experience is needed.

THE FIFTEEN X FIFTEEN AUCTION STARTS TOMORROW 🔥

Tomorrow we open the Fifteen x Fifteen 2026 GLAS Auction, bringing together a special collection of contemporary glass.

Running 1st–4th October, the auction includes pieces made during the live demonstrations at the opening of Fifteen x Fifteen, alongside works generously put forward by artists taking part in the exhibition.

Featuring work by Amelia Burke Layne Rowe , Elliot Walker 🔥 Blown Away 2 Winner , Brenda Page , Niki Steel , Alison Stott , Peter Layton, Emma Gulliford Caroline Weidman and Angela Thwaites .

Some of these pieces were made live during the opening of the exhibition, giving them a direct connection to Fifteen x Fifteen and the artists who created them.

For collectors, it’s a rare opportunity to acquire unique contemporary glass directly connected to the exhibition, with some exceptional pieces entering the auction.

And importantly, 50% of every sale goes directly to the artist, with 50% going to Glass Legacy Association Stourbridge.

Funds raised for GLAS will support the GLAS Blowfish bursary for UK glass artists, helping artists develop new ideas through access to hotshop facilities, technical support and mentorship.

Fifteen X Fifteen Artist Spotlights
Sarah Shanahan - Summer I
Sarah, an accomplished artist working with glass and metal, aims to translate the infinite variety of living things into beautiful, colourful, and desirable objects. After training as a silversmith and jeweller, she took on commissions and worked as a freelance wax carver.

In her personal projects, she created a series of small decorative objects that employed a range of techniques, including enamelling, stone setting, and etching. Her fascination with the contrasting qualities of glass and metal fuels her creativity, as she believes these materials offer immense possibilities for artistic expression.

Georgia Redpath - Drawn to the Light
Georgia Redpath is a glass artist known for her modular approach to mold making and kiln casting. She draws inspiration from the patterns and structures found in the natural world, where small, repeating components combine to create immense variety and complexity. Her modular building blocks often begin with basic geometric shapes, which, through repetition and simple mathematical transformations, evolve into more intricate forms that reflect the natural systems that inspired them.

Although reminiscent of moths, these pieces developed from a geometric pattern which mathematicians call a pursuit curve. Colour and texture help make the bridge from geometry to the natural world.

GLAS Auction | 1st–4th October

These photos are of Caroline Weidman demonstrating her lampworking skills at Blowfish during our 2024 exhibition.

Caroline has very kindly put forwards this beautiful sculpture to this year’s GLAS auction, which will be running online through the Blowfish website from 1st–4th October.

The GLAS auction is something we’re really pleased to be able to support. 50% of every sale goes directly to the artist, with the other 50% going into the GLAS bursary fund.

The money raised from the last auction helped GLAS award two bursaries this year, to Linda Norris and Hannah Masi. The Blowfish bursary gives the recipient a day in our hot shop with a gaffer and assistant, as well as time and support to work through ideas and develop new pieces.

It’s a really lovely way of putting money raised from the glass community straight back into supporting other makers.

A huge thank you to Maria Donnai, who has also donated her artist share from the sale of Scallop Shell to GLAS, and to Emma Baker, Angela Thwaits, Elliot Walker and Peter Layton for submitting work to the auction.

And thank you to our demonstration artists Nicola Steel, Amelia Burke, Layne Rowe and Brenda Page, who made pieces during their Fifteen x Fifteen 2026 demonstrations and have also put them to the auction.

It’s brilliant to see so many artists getting behind GLAS and helping create more opportunities for makers.

A lotta love for the wonderful glass artists from Ireland, and those who now call Ireland home, featured in our Fifteen x Fifteen exhibition. 🇮🇪🤍

Laura Quinn is a multi-award-winning artist working in contemporary glass sculpture. Her practice challenges assumptions about glass, exploring its perceived limitations through interactive and often modular works.

Lampworking, coldworking, silvering

Symbiosis I is a self-reflective exploration for the artist.

Juxtaposing bodies intertwine and rely on one another for support. Soft, vulnerable limbs mould themselves around a hard, impermeable centre — exploring ideas of dependence, vulnerability and connection.

Lindsay LeBlanc (b. 1989, USA) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Ireland, working across glass, sculpture and installation.

A delicate study of gorse in bloom and decay, bringing together vibrant yellow petals and scorched, weathered forms.

Alison Mac Cormaic | Bend in the River

Born in Scotland and now living in Galway, Ireland, Alison Mac Cormaic draws inspiration from botanical forms and surface pattern, using mosaic to explore the intersection between nature and culture.

This work presents new surfaces and unique construction techniques in tumbled smalti, layering opacity with transparency.

Rivers held in light disappear and re-emerge between tree and landscape shadows.

Based in Saintfield, Northern Ireland, Alison Lowry works from her studio, Schoolhouse Glass, creating deeply personal works that explore memory, identity and connection.
