What an incredible evening celebrating 50 years of the Photographic Resource Center! 📸✨

We’re excited to share some photos from our 50th Anniversary Gala, where we raised over $20,000 to support the PRC!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us, our generous sponsors Digital Silver Imaging, Panopticon Imaging, Leica Gallery Boston, and Hunt's Photo & Video, and our event designer and manager Danielle Kelley (Danielle Kelly), the Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston (Arts & Business Council), and our wonderful staff and volunteers who made it all possible.

And a special thank you to photographer Artemisia Luk (artemisia luk 📸) for beautifully capturing the evening!

We’re so grateful for this community and excited for the PRC’s next chapter!

Our three Artists-in-Residence have officially begun their residency at the PRC! 📸

Over the next four weeks, they’ll use our gallery as their studio space, with access to Lesley University’s darkroom and digital photography lab to experiment and create new work.

The residents will hold an open studios event featuring artist demonstrations and mini workshops, with their residency culminating in a pop-up exhibition November 20-22.

A huge thank you to the Lesley Art and Design for partnering with us and to Mass Cultural Council for supporting this residency through a grant!

📸 Technique Thursday: Self portraiture

Now known as a selfie, self portraits date back to as early as 1839 by Robert Cornelius, one of the earliest pioneers taking a portrait with daguerreotype! Although this is more of a genre and style of art that expands over all mediums of art, photographically its techniques are still innovatively applicable till this day. Self portraits’ vastness in ex*****on extends to its legacy.

Zachary Stephens (Zachary Garrett Stephens) adopts self portraits within an intimate family setting reflecting moments of fatherhood and family relationships captured in a second. Stop by the current EXPOSURES 2026 exhibition now to see his photographs in detail.

Created by current PRC Summer Intern Briana Chen as part of our ongoing Technique Thursday series.
