Every big idea starts with a prototype.

💡 Summer Spark! Camp week 8 (August 10-14): Invention Adventure 💡

In our final week of Spark! Camp, campers entering grades K-5 will solve problems by designing, building, and testing new ideas. Students will learn from real-world designers and turn creative thinking into action.

Spark! Camps are grouped by incoming grades: K-1, 2-3, and 4-5. Before and after care are available.

End the summer building something unforgettable.

🤖 Mi-Sci joined the CBS Detroit morning show to demo how kids can build simple "bug robots" using toothbrush heads, batteries, and small motors — then test how different designs move, wiggle, and race across the table.

It’s the kind of hands-on tinkering campers can expect at Mi-Sci Spark! Camps this summer. Designed for incoming K–5th graders, each week features a different science theme, from robots and space to chemistry, ecology, invention, and more.

Campers will explore Mi-Sci’s 220+ exhibits, experience shows in the Penske Planetarium and theaters, try hands-on experiments, and take home activities inspired by the week’s theme.

Registration closes the Wednesday before each camp week begins. Learn more and register at mi-sci.org/camps.

Before summer bike rides begin, give your child a fun, hands-on way to learn safe bicycling habits at the Michigan Science Center. Kids ages 7 to 9 can build confidence and safety on two wheels at Bicycle Safety Town on either May 31 or June 28.

Mi-Sci is partnering with Major Taylor Michigan Cycling Advocacy to bring a hands-on bike safety experience to the Lower Atrium. Young riders will learn proper helmet fitting and the ABC Quick Check, hand signals and rules of the road. Then, they’ll practice navigating roads safely in a simulated street environment.

Free! Bring your own bike helmet. Registration is required: https://f.mtr.cool/wwygbkvmfh
