What stories live in the everyday moments around us?

Join the Romare Bearden Foundation for Visual Storytelling and the Sacred Everyday, a virtual conversation with artist, muralist, and educator Jimmy James Greene, moderated by Marline A. Martin.

For more than forty-five years, Greene has created vibrant visual narratives through collage, painting, drawing, mosaic, and public art—celebrating African-American life, African diasporic culture, spirituality, music, memory, and community.

Deeply influenced by Romare Bearden’s approach to collage and visual storytelling, Greene describes himself as a “visual storyteller” whose work invites viewers into their own memories, experiences, and aspirations.

This spring, help Bearden’s legacy bloom. 🌿

Romare Bearden’s art continues to inspire across generations — through its vision, its rhythm, and its powerful reflections on memory, culture, and community.

Through our Spring Appeal, In Bloom, we’re raising support for the work that keeps that legacy alive: public programs, scholarship, educational initiatives, and expanded access to Bearden’s world.

Join us in celebrating a legacy that is still growing.

Join us TOMORROW, Wednesday, April 22 at 6:00 PM EDT, for the next edition of our Cinque Artist Talk series: The Art of an Impossible Dream with artist and author @.

Held on Earth Day, this virtual conversation will center on Brewer’s latest book project, Harriet Tubman, Force of Nature, and the artistic journey behind it.

Inspired in part by the work of Romare Bearden, Brewer will reflect on artmaking as a way of engaging Harriet Tubman’s seemingly impossible dream of freedom—for herself and for others—and on the essential role of community in bringing vision into being.

We hope you’ll join us for this rich conversation and live Q&A.

Join us on Earth Day for the next edition of the Cinque Artist Talk with Caroline Brewer: The Art of an Impossible Dream with artist and author Caroline Brewer.

In this virtual conversation, Caroline Brewer will speak about her book project Harriet Tubman, Force of Nature and the process of making art in response to Harriet Tubman’s seemingly impossible dream of freedom—for herself and for others.

Inspired in part by the work of Romare Bearden, Brewer’s work opens a rich conversation about Black history, nature, liberation, and the power of community memory.

This spring, we’re proud to launch In Bloom, the Romare Bearden Foundation’s Spring Appeal. 🌿

To mark the campaign, we’re also sharing a new blog post exploring how works like In the Garden, Maudell Sleet’s Magic Garden, and Maudell Sleet’s July Garden reflect Bearden’s enduring vision of memory, renewal, and living legacy.

Bearden’s art continues to inspire because it continues to grow with us — through scholarship, public programs, education, and deeper access to his work.

Read the blog, support the appeal, and help this legacy keep blooming:
