Closing soon: “Alternate Side (Permutations #1-32)”

For Amy Sillman’s exhibition at Dia Bridgehampton, the artist reimagines the relationship between figure and ground. “Alternate Side (Permutations #1–32)” departs from a question: Can printmaking itself serve as a model and method for a whole room? The resulting installation features a commissioned, site-specific work painted and screenprinted directly onto the gallery walls.

Experience the works at Dia Bridgehampton before the show closes on May 31. Open this holiday weekend 11 am – 5 pm (closed 2–2:30 pm daily). Admission is free.

“To do a piece for one week is to separate my art and my life, to feel myself perform. To do [a] piece for one year is to make art my life, [it] is more powerful.”— Tehching Hsieh

In addition to probing mental and physical limits against the unrelenting passage of time, Hsieh’s works interrogate the constitution of the self under social and political constraints. He has described the principle of duration as central to his work, and by insisting on the span of a year, rendered his art indistinguishable from his everyday life.

His ”One Year Performances,” currently on view at Dia Beacon, are the foundation of Hsieh’s artistic legacy. Experience these works in person Friday through Monday, 10 am to 5 pm. Head to diaart.org to learn more about the artist and plan your visit.

On view at Dia Beacon, “Kishio Suga” brings together a group of the artist’s sculptures from the 1960s to the ’90s.

Since the late 1960s, Kishio Suga’s practice has been motivated by a philosophical inquiry: can art expand our perception of things (in Japanese “mono”) beyond preconceived notions imposed by use and language?

In Dia Beacon’s galleries, Suga wittingly collapses both work and space into one mysterious, prismatic situation. Experience the exhibition Friday through Monday, 10 am to 5 pm. Plan your visit at diaart.org/visit.

Now open: “Lee Ufan” at Dia Beacon.

As Dia presents a major exhibition of Lee Ufan’s work in Venice this month, a concurrent presentation is now on view at Dia Beacon. Together, the two exhibitions mark the artist’s 90th birthday and reflect the breadth of his practice across decades, disciplines, and geographies.

On view in Beacon are eight paintings from the 1970s through the early ’90s, which recently entered Dia’s collection, alongside three sculptures associated with the Mono-ha movement. Visit Dia Beacon and experience these works in person, Friday through Monday, 10 am to 5 pm.
