On the last Sunday of each month, Hudson Valley residents receive free admission to Dia Beacon. For peak fall foliage and nearly 300,000 square feet of art, join us on Sunday, October 25 from 10 am to 5 pm for free admission to Dia Beacon.

The Hudson Valley encompasses the following counties: Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Saratoga, Schenectady, Sullivan, Ulster, Washington, and Westchester.

Dia Chelsea is located at 537 West 22nd Street in New York City. Open Wednesday–Saturday, 12–6 pm, admission is always free. Currently on view is “David Lamelas: The Machine,” the first major solo presentation of the artist’s work in New York.⁠

Visitors are also encouraged to experience the final chapter of David Lamelas’s concurrent Film Program in our program space, which exhibits different stages of his film- and video-making career as it developed over six decades. ⁠

Negative space is critical to Michael Heizer’s work. “North, East, South, West” (1967/2002) at Dia Beacon presents form as the separation of void and solid mass. The volume of this sculpture is described as absence rather than presence.⁠

To take in the magnitude of the work, we invite visitors join a special guided, 20-minute tour behind the glass of “North, East, South, West.” Dia offers this experience at 9:30 am Friday through Monday, before the museum opens to the public. Tours are limited to a maximum of 6 guests and reservations are required. On long-term view at Dia Beacon are five of Robert Smithson’s indoor earthworks. Made in the late 1960s with materials such as sand, gravel, mirrors, and glass, the works are deeply informed by science in its popularized forms: science fiction literature and cinema, encyclopedic collections, and natural history museums. His practice addresses processes of accumulation, displacement, and entropy in order to reveal the contradictions in our visible world.⁠

Opening this weekend at Dia Beacon, “Haegue Yang: Through” marks the first time an artist has conceived of newly commissioned works that entangle multiple galleries across two levels.

Closing soon: “Renée Green: The Equator Has Moved” at Dia Beacon

This exhibition marks the multidisciplinary artist’s first major solo museum presentation in New York. Since the late 1980s, Green has produced densely layered, knowledge-based work that adapts strategies of Minimal and Conceptual art from the 1960s and ’70s.
