Findlay Galleries

Findlay Galleries Findlay Galleries is the second oldest gallery in America. Dealing in Impressionism, Modern Art, Pos Findlay, Sr. Findlay Jr. (Wally), joined the family company.

In 1870 William Wadsworth Findlay founded his first gallery, called the City Art Rooms, in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1919, the presidency of the gallery was passed on to Findlay’s eldest son, Walstein C. was responsible for bringing European art – including 19th-century English landscapes and portraits, German genre works, and French Impressionist and Barbizon paintings – to the gallery’s collecti

on. The third generation of Findlay leadership arose when Walstein C. Under Findlay, Jr.’s leadership, the gallery – now called the Wally Findlay Galleries – became a known cultural destination in Kansas City. Wally Findlay Galleries established its second location, in Chicago, in 1931. Answering the needs of its clients, the galleries continued to expand dramatically, opening locations in Palm Beach (1961), New York City (1964), Paris and Beverly Hills (1971). Naturally, the styles of work represented by Wally Findlay Galleries throughout its history have reflected the various schools of art from each period, from Impressionism in the 1870’s, to Fauvism in the early- twentieth century, and through subsequent contemporary movements. Today, the legacy of committed fine art excellence is continued by the company’s Chairman and C.E.O., Mr. James R. Borynack, who acquired the company in late 1998. In 2016, Wally Findlay Galleries acquired David Findlay Jr Gallery, reuniting the 146-year old family art business and returning to the original name Findlay Galleries. Findlay Galleries located at:

Artist Spotlight ✨ Belynda Henry

We are proud to represent Belynda Henry, one of Australia’s leading landscape painters, whose work bridges the meditative and the elemental — absorbing the dynamics of sound, light, color, and texture of the wild escarpments north of Sydney where she lives and works.

Henry is truly embedded in her subject — and it shows. Her paintings exist somewhere between the transcendent and tangible, rooted by quiet traces of her surrounding environment, alive with a meditative power that feels both ancient and immediate.

Her international reputation speaks for itself: a sellout New York debut, collectors including Christian Louboutin, and works held in private collections across Europe, Asia, and the United States. She is a multiple finalist of both the Wynne and Archibald Prizes, and has exhibited alongside the giants of Australian art.

Celebrating the birthday of Georges Braque today.

A pioneer of modern art, Braque helped redefine the language of painting through his groundbreaking exploration of form, space, and perspective.

We’re pleased to share “Vase de feuilles” (slide 2) and “The Crystal Vase” (slide 3 & 4) from our collection in honor of his lasting influence on twentieth-century art.

“Crystal Vase” is one of four paintings commissioned from Braque by collector Paul Rosenberg for his home at 21 rue de la Boétie in Paris, together forming the celebrated “Rosenberg Quartet.” Each work occupied a separate wall of the dining room, while mosaics inspired by the paintings were inlaid into the floor, creating a remarkably harmonious environment.

Unique within the series for its restrained palette of muted beiges, grays, and soft oranges, Crystal Vase reflects Braque’s elegant handling of space and composition. The work combines his classicizing Cubist style of the 1920s with subtle homages to Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin and Paul Cézanne.
