Delaware Museum of Nature & Science Everywhere you look, our dynamic Earth is full of diverse life.

Our mission: to investigate nature and science, preserve and interpret our collections, conduct scientific research, and inspire people of all ages to a lifetime of exploration and discovery. Through this mission, we strive to help develop a caring society that respects and values our planet. In addition to all-new exhibits, the museum offers nature and science programs and events including progra

ms for schools and community organizations, summer camp, and rental opportunities. Above the galleries are millions of scientific specimens, including some of the largest mollusk and bird collections in the country. Formerly the Delaware Museum of Natural History, the museum was founded in 1957 and open to the public since 1972. The museum is undergoing a major metamorphosis to its galleries and public spaces and reopened to the public on May 23, 2022.

From Executive Director Mandy Santiago: Magical Moments at the Museum...

Today is Endangered Species Day.

Some species exist only in museum drawers now, telling quiet stories about vibrant ecosystems that once thrived, then slowly disappeared.

The collections at the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science are not just a snapshot of trends in natural history...they're also a warning sign about the future. An important reminder of how interconnected, fragile and dynamic our environment can be.

Whether you're a first-time visitor or a longtime member of the Museum, thank you for helping us:

🔬 Preserve and share our specimens to advance scientific research.
📓 Heighten awareness about endangered species.
🦉 Educate the public about the importance of conservation efforts.

What we choose to protect today determines what future generations will discover later.
