Selby Scrap Metal Design

Selby Scrap Metal Design "I've lived in Sonoma County for 50 years and have been an automotive machinist for the past 34 years. My love for art comes from my mother, who was an artist.

Shapes and patterns have always intrigued me. In the beginning I created functional art; plant stands and tables, then lamps and clocks. Eventually, I began experimenting with abstract shapes that had no function other than their visual appeal. Each piece I create is absolutely unique - no two are ever alike. All of the pieces used in my sculptures were once a part of a functioning engine or tool.

I taker greasy, oily, sometimes flawed metal and create unique, distinctive sculptures that reflect beauty, whimsy and humor. I began showing/selling my art in 2002 at the Windsor Farmers Market. The comments, ideas and requests from people interested in my work have often give my art new direction and dimension. I was once asked by a customer to create a unique garden sculpture. This project led me to a new form for my metal art. As I reflect on the evolution of my work I realize the possibilities are endless!"
