The stunning RBSA Prize 2026 remains open until the end of the month, closing on Saturday 31 October at 5.00pm.

With over 130 artworks on display, there is a an amazing variety of pieces to see, some of which have sparked incredibly interesting and, at times, moving conversations.

The call for entries for the RBSA Photography Prize 2027 is now open!

The RBSA Photography Prize provides an opportunity for artists creating work using any photographic process to exhibit their work in the RBSA Gallery.

All photographic styles and media are eligible for this exhibition, and we welcome entries from professional and emerging artists based locally, nationally, and internationally.

Since its first introduction in 2015, the biennial RBSA Photography Prize has grown significantly, attracting increased submissions with each exhibition held.

Expanded for the third time to fill both gallery spaces, the 2027 show is a celebration of artwork produced by both established and emerging photographers. This year’s exhibition is also the third to be held since the decision was made to admit photography into the Society in October 2022.

There is just under a month left to enter work for the RBSA Friends Exhibition 2027.

Entry for this exhibition is a perk unique to artists with an active RBSA Friends subscription, however if you would like to enter but are not yet a Friend, don't panic! Anyone can purchase an RBSA Friends subscription, simply visit our website https://rbsa.org.uk/friends/join-rbsa-friends/

The exhibition will be on display from 7 January - 6 February 2027 with a full colour catalogue to accompany the show.

Submitting work is easy, simply visit our website https://rbsa.org.uk/call-for-entries/rbsa-friends-exhibition-2027/ and complete the entry form. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday 10 November at 4.00pm.

Opening tomorrow is the latest RBSA On Tour exhibition, this time at Winterbourne House and Garden.

RBSA On Tour exhibitions began in 2024 when the Membership was given the opportunity to exhibit work in the Wyre Forest Gallery at Bewdley Museum. This was followed in 2025 by a show at Three Snowhill in central Birmingham.

2026 sees the Membership on tour once again as they take work to Winterbourne House and Gardens in Edgbaston, Birmingham. A rare surviving example of an early 20th century suburban villa, Winterbourne House was built in 1904 for John and Margaret Nettlefold, and sits within seven acres of garden, which boasts a Japanese bridge, walled garden, and nut walk.

Not only do these exhibitions allow the RBSA Membership to show their work in new locations and to new audiences, they also introduce the Society to people who may not normally visit the Gallery on St. Paul's Square.

This exhibition brings together the work of over 40 RBSA Members and Associates and runs throughout winter to the end of February.

The RBSA Gallery offers two spacious, versatile galleries for venue hire on the first and second floors. Gallery spaces can be hired individually or together by artists or groups for their own exhibitions.

Both gallery spaces provide natural light from large windows, as well as having contemporary gallery lighting, and are suited for displaying both two and three-dimensional work.

All exhibitions at the RBSA Gallery will be supported by digital and print marketing included in the fee.

Introducing our judges for the RBSA Prize 2026:

Robert Wenley
Deputy Director: Collections and Research at the Barber Institute of Fine Arts

Robert Wenley FSA has been the Deputy Director: Collections and Research at the Barber Institute of Fine Arts, University of Birmingham since 2010, curating numerous exhibitions and displays. He was previously Curator of European Art, 1600-1800, at Glasgow Museums (2003-10), and Curator of Sculpture and Metalwork at the Wallace Collection, London (1991-2003).

Robert studied History at Durham University and Gallery Studies at the University of St Andrews. He has published widely on Dutch and Flemish Baroque painting, French Baroque bronzes, and the history of collecting.

He was Reviews Editor for the Sculpture Journal from 2000 to 2010 and has chaired the Specialist Advisory Board of the Public Statue and Sculpture Association since 2022. Robert is also Chair of Birmingham’s Public Picture Gallery Fund (founded 1871), a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, and an expert adviser to the Reviewing Committee on the Export of Works of Art and the Acceptance in Lieu Committee.
