Since January, Stories in Motion has been bringing women together at Dundee Rep, a creative project bringing together women from diverse cultures and backgrounds and exploring storytelling, connection, wellbeing, and self-expression through movement, music, play, poetry, drama, and shared creativity.

Part of the Fairer Life Chances programme funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, the project is a partnership between ScrapAntics, Dundee Rep Engage, and Scottish Dance Theatre.

Co-facilitated by Caroline Love Danso alongside Amanda Lowson and Bridie Gane, the sessions have grown into a joyful, welcoming space filled with connection, laughter, creativity, and freedom of expression 💛

Together we explored personal stories, creating a space where women could simply arrive as themselves, connect with others, and take time away from daily responsibilities.

Some of the words participants used to describe the experience:
✨ freedom
✨ joy
✨ connection
✨ transformation
✨ community

One participant shared:
“It took me back to when I was a little girl.”
Others said:
“It is really nice to leave all responsibilities at the door.”
“Connecting emotions to the music and how we feel—I’ve never experienced that before.”
“I felt really safe and free, and that’s because of how you have all facilitated the sessions.”

We still have 2 sessions left this term:
📍 Wednesday 3rd June
📍 Wednesday 10th June
There are still a few spaces available 💛

A huge thank you to everyone who has taken part and helped shape the space with such openness, creativity, and courage.

ScrapAntics wouldn’t be anything without its volunteers.

This we’re celebrating everything our volunteers bring to the team - knowledge, creativity, fresh ideas and capacity to make big things happen!

Over the past year, our team of 40+ volunteers have gifted us an incredible 3,614 hours of their time. If paid at living wage this would amount to £45,536.40!!!

For small organisations with big goals like us, volunteers are essential and we do all we can to support and celebrate them. If you’d like to find out more about volunteering with us please get in touch!

We were delighted to be invited along to to present awards to the honours year students in product and interactive design.

The was of really high standard this year and our team had a tough time narrowing down our choices. We want to congratulate everyone exhibiting work this week. Your creativity and hard work is incredible!

Our winners this year were:

with Ridgeline in 1st place - a simple but effective medical alert bracelet designed to support those with epilepsy explore the outdoors independently and safely.

with Flow in 2nd place - connect the characteristics of water to indoor lighting to enhance connection with nature in a playful way.

with Ocassional Comfort in 3rd place - an inclusively designed formal-wear line that puts sensory needs first without compromising on style.

We’ve loved exploring the degree show, chatting to students about their projects and celebrating their success. ScrapAntics will always be here to support Dundee’s bright and diverse artist community the best we can! 🦋✨

Find a bargain and support the local community at our incredibly affordable kilo sale. It’s just £1 entry and £1 per kilo of clothing/supplies 🤯

Did you know?

- All of the items available are donated to us to reduce waste going to landfill (including brand new clothing!)

- The money we raise goes directly back to the community in the form of essential support packs including food, toiletries and household cleaning supplies.

- This year alone we’ve diverted over 100kg of clothing from landfill via our Kilo Sales and raised over £200 for the community.

With the academic year coming to an end and graduation just around the corner, we want to say a huge thank you to all of the students who joined our team while placements.

Students bring so much knowledge and fresh perspectives to our space and challenge us to reflect on the how and why behind our practise.

This is something we choose to do, not because we’re being generous (there’s no funding/financial gains) but because it’s a highly valuable, mutually beneficial learning experience! ✨
