Laguna Art Museum is the museum of California art. It collects, cares for, and exhibits works of art that were created by California artists or represent the life and history of the state. Unlike any other museum in the state, it collects California art and only California art, and ranges across all periods and styles, from the nineteenth-century to present-day.

Frank Cuprien got to enjoy Laguna’s stunning environment before any of us were here. Thanks to his stunning paintings, we get to enjoy it through him!

𝙁𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙠 𝘾𝙪𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣: 𝙁𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙚𝙖 invites you to know Frank Cuprien as an artist and as a person. Archival materials from the museum’s collection, including photographs, letters and personal records offer rare insight into his daily practice, friendships and deep attachment to Laguna Beach. These materials place the artworks in lived context, illuminating how Cuprien returned to the same stretch of shoreline again and again, finding endless variation in light, movement and mood.

LAM’s education department serves thousands of students and educators each year through school tours, lectures, studio sessions, art classes and community engagement programming. The department partners with dozens of school districts and community organizations. All programs are designed to spark an appreciation of the arts and inspire creativity.
