Flea Market, a window into the past

Items for sale on Sundays at local Flea Markets are a part of Americana. Steve Levinson presents a focused collection of photographs made at local flea markets: each image a small, quiet story of objects where memory lingers. The show treats the flea market as a living archive: a place where discarded things and everyday people meet, and where the past keeps showing up in the present. Opening May 19 - June 14; Tues.-Sat., 12-6; Sun. 12-4.

Michael Shoemaker garners a Gallery Pick for Bright Angel Trail and Havasupi Gardens, a thoughtfully composed landscape that beautifully balances scale, color, and visual flow. Its greatest strength is the remarkable sense of depth created by layered canyon formations receding into atmospheric haze, where cool bluish tones contrast naturally with the warmer foreground cliffs. The winding trail and ribbon of green vegetation guide the viewer smoothly into the scene, creating a strong visual pathway through the expansive landscape. The slightly pastel palette softens the canyon’s ruggedness, giving the photograph a quiet, dreamlike mood that favors contemplation over spectacle.
