New Arts Summer Camp is just around the corner! Cora Hasegawa is not only teaching a stopmotion animation camp in our first week of sessions, but she's also teaching Introduction to Yarn Work and Yarn Bombing at the end of June! This camp introduces students to the fundamentals of yarn work, leading up to the exciting practice of "yarn bombing"—a fun, non-destructive form of street art. Students will learn basic knitting, crocheting, or weaving techniques and use their new skills to create vibrant, temporary installations!

Sign your child up today to join Cora in her second camp! You can enroll your child here: https://forms.gle/FmPtcHLKrbm37icH6

Even though the gallery is closed for installation, you can still see Living Arts out and about! We'll be tabling at the Capital Cruise expo this Thursday and Friday, and will be in one of the party zones during the actual Cruise on Saturday! We can't wait to see everyone who comes out to celebrate with us!

As Living Arts grew in the 1980s, we began to focus on arts education alongside residencies and exhibitions. The Education Program was created, and has become the longest running program at Living Arts of Tulsa. From workshops for both adults and children to our New Arts Summer Camp, Living Arts aims to foster people's connection with art and the creation of art. To this day, we still host workshop series, and our New Arts Summer Camp is as popular as ever, with the 2026 season starting in a few weeks!

Join Living Arts in our Apollo '69 mission as we work to keep our education programs ongoing by donating today! Donate here: https://event.auctria.com/49155edf-ebcd-41a5-8311-158780d99156/

We have seven incredible sessions this year as a part of our New Arts Summer Camp, including one by Katrinka Booth! This session, Storytelling with Textile: Beginner Fabric Collage, will be the week of June 16th, and is a beginner-friendly class that centers on teaching students how to manipulate and layer different fabrics, along with fusible interfacing, to dynamically create effects of shadow and light in their artwork. Be sure to sign up today!

Moving into the 1980's, Living Arts grew massively, hosting artists like John Cage (who came to Tulsa for the first time to perform at Living Arts!), and Joan Jonas for performances or shows. The 80's was also the start of Living Arts of Tulsa's residency program! What started as a group of artists taking over a house or two and transforming them into living art pieces has grown into a program of workshops and performances, with artists like Jose Torres-Tama and Sugar Vendil traveling from across the country to Tulsa and Living Arts.

Part of our Apollo '69 mission aims to keep this residency program ongoing, so donate today to join us! Donate here: https://event.auctria.com/49155edf-ebcd-41a5-8311-158780d99156/
