This week we feature the stunning work of David French Le Roy

Primarily self-taught, David has developed a distinctive approach to still life painting, drawing strong inspiration from the great Dutch and Spanish masters, particularly Willem Kalf and Luis Meléndez.

During his twenties, David travelled extensively throughout Europe, immersing himself in the traditions and techniques of classical still life painting while developing his own artistic practice. His travels played an important role in shaping his understanding of composition, light, colour and the timeless qualities of still life painting.

Returning to Ireland in his thirties, David began exhibiting his work throughout Ireland and Europe, quickly establishing a reputation for his highly accomplished still life paintings.

He has since held numerous successful solo exhibitions, and has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Gormleys, having exhibited with us for over 15 years.

Hannah Mooney | Lightshift

We are delighted to announce Lightshift, a solo exhibition by award-winning Irish artist Hannah Mooney , opening at Gormleys Dublin from 10–30 September.

Based in County Mayo, Mooney draws inspiration from the landscapes surrounding her home, capturing the fleeting qualities of light, atmosphere and memory through expressive, contemporary painting. Her work moves between observation and abstraction, transforming encounters with the Irish landscape into richly layered compositions charged with energy and movement.

Lightshift marks Hannah Mooney’s first solo exhibition in Ireland, bringing together a significant new body of landscape and still-life paintings. From the changing light across the western landscape to intimate studies of flowers, the exhibition explores the interplay between light and darkness, turbulence and calm, and the enduring emotional resonance of place.

We look forward to sharing more from Hannah and offering a closer look at this important new collection in the lead-up to the exhibition.
